Collage Class

In this class, we'll talk about what collage is, look at some inspiring collage artists working today and from history, and then you'll make your own collage either on a wood panel or in card form, using a variety of materials. All materials are included in class, though feel free to bring any old books, magazines, or papers you'd like to use.

Gelli Plate Class

In this class, you'll learn about gelli plate printing, a monoprinting technique that uses a flexible plastic plate and acrylic paint to create unique prints. We'll try a variety of printing methods using different materials, including feathers, stencils, stamps, and leaves. Then you'll create a collage on an 8 by 8 wood panel using these papers you've created. I recommend wearing clothes you don't mind getting paint on as that's always a risk with paint projects.

Hi! I'm Jen Town.

Digital Project Manager by Day

Art Generalist by Night

I grew up in a family of makers. As a kid I watched my parents renovate their fixer-upper. My dad always has a hobby, including building model airplanes. My mom is a seamstress and has made prom dresses and wedding dresses, curtains, dolls, etc. My sibling went to school for animation and is always building in their workshop. You get it.

Me, I've tried a bit of everything. Painting, drawing, embroidery, weaving, ceramics, sewing, collage, gelli plate. This art generalist approach means I've gathered a lot of skills, tips, and tricks I can bring to an art class.

My goal for you? That you leave my class with a new or rediscovered skill and inspiration to make more things in the future.
